How they implement the Positive Pedagogy in Findland

Growing up in an educational environment based in positive pedagogy is essential for the integral development of children. This approach fosters respect, empathy, trust, and the recognition of individual strengths, creating a safe and motivating space where each student can reach their full potential.

We fully agree with our Finnish colleagues on the importance of educating from this perspective. Following a presentation they organized in Finland with a guest expert on the topic, we began a process of research that has greatly enriched our journey. Along the way, the work of Kaisa Vuorinen has been especially valuable. Her website has guided and inspired us, as she shares our ideals and beliefs in the field of education. Her contributions have helped us continue building more human, respectful, and student-centered learning environments.

Here is a nice quote we learned in Finland during the "See the Good" Workshop

Committed to Emotional Education through the GuGan Project

In line with positive pedagogy, Amaurre School has been working for several years with the GuGan project, a program promoted by Kristau Eskola based on the belief that emotional education is essential for the integral development of every person.

At our school, the teaching staff has received specific training in this educational approach, and we currently have a dedicated subject called GuGan, focused on the emotional development of our students. Its main goal is to help children recognize, understand, and manage their emotions, so they can respond consciously and empathetically.

The program is visible and lived daily in our school life. Students are familiar with its purpose and participate in concrete, meaningful activities that reflect this approach. Some of the most representative tools include:

  • The "Adostoki", a space for resolving low-intensity conflicts, where two people can autonomously engage in respectful dialogue to reach fair agreements. It is based on clear premises: speak respectfully and calmly, take turns, tell the truth, show a positive attitude toward resolving the issue

  • The “four-legged tableâ€, which symbolizes different parts of the brain, illustrated with child-friendly drawings that help students understand the role each part plays in emotional regulation and behavior.
  • The character “Fundhiâ€, a symbolic and friendly figure who accompanies students in understanding their emotions and developing core values.

These tools allow students not only to understand the importance of emotional education, but to experience and practice it daily, strengthening empathy, mutual respect, and positive coexistence throughout our educational community.
