Belchite
The activity consists of a field trip to visit the old town of Belchite. It was a town destroyed and abandoned during the Spanish Civil War, a symbol of the barbarity of the war. The battle of Belchite caused thousands of people to have to flee
their towns and leave their homes in order to survive.
There will be a guided tour and interviews with grandchildren of Belchitan refugees who returned to the new town of Belchite, decades later.
The students will write down their evaluations and conclusions in a field diary.
In the afternoon, we will visit the trenches and other traces that remain since the Spanish Civil War.
The main objective of this activity is to develop in students a series of democratic values through the recovery of historical memory and observation, in first person, of the tragic consequences of a war.
