Poetry can be an outstanding teaching resource when chosen and used properly in language classrooms since being compact and giving pleasure while reading. This project will improve language learners’ English proficiency while fostering a deeper appreciation for literature by using contemporary poetry as an integrative and supplementary teaching resource. This engaging project aims to take learners beyond the traditional classroom setting, empowering them to explore the world of poetry and improve their skills in using web2 tools and using English language collaboratively. Throughout the project, participants will embark on a 6 month-long journey, delving into a diverse selection of poems covering a wide range of themes, styles, and poets. Each month, learners will focus on a different poem, enabling them to explore the richness of the English language and its nuanced expressions. The selected poems will not only enhance language skills but also provide a cultural and historical context that enriches the learning experience. The project will promote a sense of global community and encourage participants to communicate primarily in English, improving their language skills through real-world interactions. To facilitate collaboration and interaction, learners will utilize various web2 tools such as online forums, video conferencing, and collaborative document editing. These tools will not only enhance their language proficiency but also their digital literacy. Besides analyzing poems, participants will have the opportunity to express themselves creatively. They will write their own poems, create multimedia presentations, or even design virtual exhibitions to showcase their interpretations and insights. Pre and post-surveys and feedback mechanisms will be in place to monitor progress and ensure continuous improvement during the project.
