HOW WOULD YOU TRANSFORM A PIECE OF WOOD?

PROJECT DURATION:5 MONTHS AGE GROUP:4-6 YEARS ABOUT OUR PROJECT Our project aims to conduct various activities that address different developmental areas of children aged 0-6, using wooden pieces, branch sticks, wooden rods, toothpicks, wooden slats, logs, pinecones, wooden beads, and other wooden scraps. It incorporates methods such as STEM, P4C, SOT, and Coding. These natural materials are low-cost and often free, ensuring that our project aligns with sustainability and economic principles. Additionally, our project adopts an eco-friendly and waste-free approach, aiming to minimize environmental impacts. The use of natural materials is critically important for the health of children aged 0-6; particularly, exposure to microplastic waste can negatively affect their health. Our project seeks to address this issue by providing a healthier play environment. The unstructured nature of natural materials enhances children's creativity, imagination, mental flexibility, and originality. For example, a simple tree branch can serve various purposes in math, art, or science activities, allowing children to use their imagination. Through our project, children will have the opportunity to explore their creativity while establishing a deeper connection with the natural world. The warm texture of wooden materials encourages children's sense of touch, while activities involving these materials strengthen their visual, auditory, and tactile perceptions, helping them better understand their surroundings. Furthermore, these materials allow for free play, enabling children to create their own stories and scenarios. The educational benefits of natural and wooden materials are significant; they contribute to the learning of mathematical concepts (shapes, sizes). Moreover, by providing a safe environment, they help reduce children's stress and anxiety levels, supporting their emotional development. Overall, the use of natural and wooden materials plays a crucial role in promoting sensory, social, cognitive, and emotional growth. Our project is structured to effectively utilize these benefits.
