Day 1 – Course introduction & classroom management
Course introduction
- Introduction to the course, the school, and the external week activities;
- Icebreaker activities and warm-up games;
- Presentations of the participants’ schools.
Classroom management
- Dealing with typical classroom management problems and techniques to solve them;
- Establishing classroom rules with logical consequences;
- Providing clear and concise instructions.
Day 2 – Monitoring and reflection
- Monitoring pair and group work;
- Managing pair and group work;
- Looking at typical classroom management case studies;
- Asking students to reflect on their behavior;
- How to use behavior rubrics;
- How to maintain student-centered learning.
Day 3 – Vision and mission statements
- Working on Vision and Mission statements with Classroom Management in mind;
- Looking at our own classroom management behaviors as teachers;
- Assessment: Rubrics and Portfolios;
- Managing the Flipped Classroom;
- Creating a Flipped Classroom lesson.
Day 4 – Motivation
- Working on Motivation: basic notions and ICT tools to captivate students’ attention and facilitate learning.
Day 5 – Classroom diversity
- Managing different cultures in your classroom;
- Cooperative Ƶing;
- How can everyone evaluate and provide feedback;
- Professional Development;
- Class discussion of personal cases and brainstorming of possible strategies.
Day 6 – Course closure & cultural activities
- Course evaluation: round-up of acquired competencies, feedback, and discussion;
- Awarding of the course Certificate of Attendance;
Excursion and other external cultural activities.
Barcelona – summary
Our course was called Classroom management solutions for teachers: New Methodologies, Effective Motivation, Cooperation and Evaluation Strategies. I attended class together with with Livia from Lithuania, Monica from Poland, Rosi from Italy, Nunzia from Italy, Fei from Croatia and our teacher Federica from Spain. Our group was very small that´s why we had a plenty of time of exchange our experience among each other. The afternoons were devoted to visiting sights all over Barcelona. Of course we tasted various meals which are very typical for Spain. Everyday life is sometimes so busy that you many times don´t have time to think or to have high expectations from your plans. On the other hand, it can be positive in the way that you can enjoy your life here and now as carefree children often do. To sum up, we really appreciate the time spending in this nice town, not only as for town beauties, but also the content of our courses. It was really enriching and motivating. Our course was the combination of theory and reality. Several interesting applications were introduced to us which are possible to be used with pupils at schools. I have mentioned that I didn´t have any special expectations, but in my no weaknesses could be noticed. I wish also other teachers to go, to see and to experience.
Barcelona – sumár
Náš kurz mal názov Didaktické riešenia pre učiteľov v triede: efektívna motivácia, spolupráca a stratégie hodnotenia. Ja som navštevovala kurz spolu s Liviou z Litvy, Monikou z Poľska, Rosi a Nunziou, Fei z Chorvátska a naša lektorka Federika pochádzala zo Španielska. Naša skupina bola celkom malá, tak sme mali dostatok času na výmenu skúseností medzi sebou. Poobedia boli venované navštevovaniu pamiatok v Barcelone. Samozrejme sme vyskúšali rôzne jedlá, ktoré sú typické pre Španielsko. Každodenný život je niekedy tak hektický, že veľakrát nemáme čas nato, aby sme príliš rozmýšľali alebo stihli mať veľké očakávania od svojich plánov. Na druhej strane tento prístup ma výhodu užívať si prítomný okamih tu a teraz, ako to robievajú bezstarostné deti. Aby som zhrnula náš pobyt, naozaj sme si užili čas v tomto krásnom meste a to nielen vďaka úžasným pamiatkam, ale aj obsahu kurzu, ktorý nám mal, čo povedať. Bolo to naozaj obohacujúce a motivujúce. Náš kurz bol spojením teórie a reality. Predstavili nám rôzne aplikácie, ktoré je možno použiť si žiakmi v školách. Spomínala som, že som nešla na daný kurz s nejakými špeciálnymi očakávaniami, ale nespozorovala som veru žiadne nedostatky, ktoré by som v organizácií chcela zlepšovať. Prajem všetkým učiteľom, aby mali šancu ísť, vidieť a zažiť to isté.
