Aimed at Prospective Teachers of English to very young learners (ages 3-6) or Teachers who are already teaching at this level. This course will enable educational practitioners to improve their skills of teaching, supporting, and motivating very young learners of English. It aims to provide fun and practical ideas in a professional environment.

Suitable for Teachers of English to very young learners (age 3-6) preschool or early primary.
This course can be taken as a combined 10-day course or as two separate 5-day options: Week 1 ‘Stories, Songs & Games’ and Week 2 ‘Effective Planning and Creating Routines’. Participants are expected to take a full and active part in all aspects of the course content in order to maximise the teaching and learning opportunities on offer. A wide range of ideas will be explored, creating a forum for experienced classroom practitioners to share and discuss teaching at this important time in a child’s educational development.
Alpha School’s Teaching English to Very Young Ƶers course offers participants theoretical, as well as practical, classroom experience in a supportive forum where they will be given the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with peers of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds
- Share examples of good practice when teaching very young learners
Ƶing objectives
- Participants will develop the ability to explore and share ideas for helping young learners access the curriculum, demonstrating effective scaffolding techniques and adapting lessons for online teaching.
- They will gain skills in understanding different learning styles, delivering story-based lessons, and creating engaging activities using methodologies such as learning through play.
- Participants will collaborate with peers, document their progress, and produce a course presentation.
- Additionally, they will explore and apply digital tools, plan and deliver effective learning episodes, and critically assess their work to enhance engagement and outcomes.
Methodology & assessment
All our sessions are practical and dynamic and include a focus on multimedia and technology for teaching purposes. This course is taught interactively, with discussion, brainstorming sessions, workshops and group work.
You will be encouraged to take an active role in all sessions, maximising your use of English, and experiencing for yourself the activities your learners will be participating in. This course is designed to help you reflect on your approach to teaching today’s pupils.
Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
Google Slides of course content are shared via Google Classroom, enabling participants to access, contribute, and collaborate with peers, past and present, throughout the course.
Certification details
Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate, including their name, date of birth, course title, course dates, total sessions attended, and overall attendance record. This certificate recognises their participation and engagement.
