Description

Gender equality refers to the belief that all individuals, regardless of their gender, should have equal rights and opportunities. This includes equal access to education, employment, healthcare, and equal rights under the law. In the context of education, gender equality means ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to succeed and that the learning environment is inclusive and free from discrimination. This includes addressing stereotypes, bias, and discrimination that can negatively impact certain groups of students, such as girls or gender non-conforming students. It also includes creating a curriculum and classroom environment that is inclusive and responsive to the diverse needs and experiences of all students.

Historical Perspective: Examine the historical background of the struggle for gender equality, and convey the developments in this area from the past to the present.
Global Examination: Discuss the status of gender equality in different countries and cultures, to provide a global perspective.
Legal Framework: Study the legal regulations and international conventions that support gender equality, to teach the legal foundations.
Discrimination and Biases: Discuss different forms of gender discrimination and biases, and analyze their social and economic impacts.
Economic Equality: Examine economic opportunity equality between women and men, including wage equality and labor force participation.
Education and Career: Introduce practices and strategies that promote gender equality in education and career.

Methodology & assessment

The methodology for this training course on Gender Equality will involve a combination of interactive lectures, group discussions, and practical activities. Participants will first be introduced to the concept of gender equality and its significance in education through lectures and discussions. They will then have the opportunity to engage in activities that will help them identify and address gender-based stereotypes, bias, and discrimination in the classroom. To create inclusive and equitable classrooms, the course will focus on addressing the diverse needs of students through interactive activities and case studies. Participants will also have the opportunity to work in small groups to develop strategies and policies that promote gender equality in schools. Guest speakers, such as educators and experts in the field of gender equality, will also be invited to share their perspectives and real-world examples.

The course includes guides on gender equality in education, case studies, and policy development templates. Participants will engage with interactive activities, research reports, and lesson planning resources. Digital tools such as Google Workspace, Padlet, and Zoom will facilitate collaboration and discussion. Additional resources include video lectures, expert interviews, academic articles, and self-assessment tools, ensuring a comprehensive and practical learning experience.

Cancellation & changes:

Once registration is confirmed, cancellations are not permitted. However, participant substitutions are allowed up to 14 days before the course start date.
In the case of unforeseen circumstances (force majeure), such as natural disasters, pandemics, or other emergencies, the course will be rescheduled, and all registered participants will be offered a place in the new session. No refunds will be provided, but participants will have the opportunity to attend the rescheduled course.
