ART MATTERS

Most data suggest that the younger generations don't really engage with the artistic and cultural world. Our digitally-connected students tend to remain inside their social media bubbles (which are, more often than not, disconnected from artistic organizations) being entirely reduced to the role of mere consumers of mass production goods. The main goal of this project is to create opportunities for students to learn about and better engage with art and its potential to bring human beings close together. Getting acquainted with artistic expression has other potential benefits, such as decreasing anxiety, feelings of anger and depression, which is quite on-target considering the effects of COVID-19 upon our students. The process of analysing and recreating artistic works can also enhance cognitive abilities, foster greater self-awareness and help learners regulate their emotions.
