
TEACHING (WITH) SOCIALLY VULNERABLE/AT RISK/ENDANGERED GROUPS IN (ADULT) EDUCATION: WHO, WHAT, WHY AND HOW? 5 DAYS
This course is aimed at teachers and all those who are interested in a critical approach to adult education. The course will focus on the reasons why and on the ways how adult educators can provide members of socially vulnerable groups with the best of education.
Description
The course consists of 25 didactic hours and includes the following modules:
- Introduction of participants, outline of the programme, warm ups and ice breakers
- Overview of social vulnerability
- Overview of current adult education theories and practices with emphasis on Freire's
- Teaching practices suitable for each group
- Examples and case studies
- Online tools for collaboration in interactive adult education projects
- Individual support
- Presentation of outcomes, discussion, evaluation and closing session
- Teambuilding and networking activities
- City tour or a cultural trip
Ƶing objectives
- Understand the current discourses on social vulnerability and its relation to education
- Make distinctions between different approaches that society “helps” vulnerable and marginalized people.
- Understand that the student centered, emancipatory approach (Freire) is the best way to help vulnerable groups.
- Distinguish between different kinds of vulnerable people and enter their worlds
- Define for each particular group what is best according to their needs.
- Developing communication, collaboration, presentation, problem solving, negotiation, critical and creative thinking skills.
- Provide and exercise creative ideas and practical resources for successful education of various vulnerable groups
- Improve English fluency (official language of the course).
- Promote intercultural awareness.
- Share experiences of student centered and emancipatory methods in adult education from different organizations in order to help each of us to be more effective in our work.

All the materials will be made available to the participants in digital form upon completion of the course.
Certification details
Certificate includes the topic, dates and location of the course. We can list the record of learning outcomes on the Europass Mobility Document on request of participants.

Course package content:
The course fee includes tution and materials for the course. Accommodation, meals and transportation are not included and participants are expected to organize and cover for these expenses by themselves. We do not charge anything extra apart from the 400 EUR course fee.

Cancellation & changes:
Free cancellation up to 30 days before the start. After that, the reservation is not refundable. Changes in name and profile of the participant are possible any time before the start of the course. In case of extraordinary circumstances we will offer a free re-schedualing to be used within 6 months.
