ClimateWISE

Climate change is a very popular issue which refers to the long-term alteration of Earth's climate patterns, particularly those related to temperature, precipitation, wind patterns, and other weather-related factors. In recent times, the term "climate change" is primarily associated with the significant changes in Earth's climate system caused by human activities. Schools play a crucial role in educating and empowering the next generation to address climate change. We want to incorporate climate change education across subjects such as science, geography, social studies, and even literature. Our aim is to ensure that students understand the science, impacts, and solutions related to climate change. The European Commission established the European Climate Change Programme (ECCP) in 2000 to help identify the most environmentally and cost- effective policies and measures. With the 2030 Climate Target Plan, the European Commission proposes to raise the EU's ambition on reducing greenhouse gas emissions . These programmes inspired us to apply for a project in order to show our students the emergency of global warming. Our project aims to activate our students as Climate Change Reporters. A climate change reporter will play a vital role in informing the school public about the complex and critical issue of climate change. Their responsibilities will include research and investigation, reporting and storytelling, interviews and expert analysis, climate advocacy and solutions, public engagement, fact-checking and accountability, climate communication and collaboration. Working simultaneously with both teachers and students will lead to more cohesive, sustainable and lasting change.
