Virtual Guide for Entrepreneurial learning and teaching at school

Developed by the , the is a practical and useful tool for teachers in primary, secondary and vocational schools, who want to integrate entrepreneurial education in the teaching methods and learning processes that take place inside and outside the classroom.
According to Caroline Jenner, Chief Executive Officer in Junior Achievement-Young Enterprise (JA-YE) Europe, the guide is aimed at “teachers whose subjects are not necessarily Entrepreneurship or Business, but they do want to bring entrepreneurial learning methods into their science, history or primary school class. They want to ensure that these competences are brought out in young people”.
The Virtual Guide offers teachers:
- More than 100 to support entrepreneurial teaching and learning.
- from 85 different schools in 10 countries.
- The on entrepreneurial learning, together with strategy and research documents published by national governments and other institutions.
- for teachers and schools to evaluate their progress.
Best practice tools and methods are collected from entrepreneurial schools all over Europe, adapted for pan-European use and tested before implemented in the guide. The materials are designed for different age levels, from primary to upper secondary, including vocational schools. A wide range of learning outcomes related to entrepreneurial learning are promoted, such as creativity, leadership, business and innovation skills.
All the tools and methods are translated from the original language and into English for the adaptation and testing, and soon, the resources will be available in eight languages, including English, Finnish, Slovak, Norwegian, Portuguese, Polish, Italian and Danish. The Virtual Guide will continue to grow, and selected national tools and resources will be translated into English and gradually published on the . Through review tools, teachers can leave comments and recommendations for their colleagues.
“I think that the main driving force in my work is that I see that the students get to build both practical skills, as well as a CV with relevant experience”, commented a Norwegian secondary-school teacher who is involved in JA-YE. “Entrepreneurship is a big part of 21st century skills. I am expected to help students develop the skills that they need - not just in the subjects that they are supposed to learn in class, but also basic skills that comprise ethics and being a creative and positive students.”

About the Virtual Guide & The Entrepreneurial School (TES)
The Virtual Guide to Entrepreneurial Ƶing has been developed within The Entrepreneurial School (TES) project, one of the largest entrepreneurship education initiatives in Europe, co-funded by the European Commission through the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP) and coordinated by JA-YE Europe. European Schoolnet is a partner of the TES consortium which brings together a variety of institutions/partners and stakeholders from education, business, government and civil society in Denmark, Finland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, and UK. Between 2014 and 2016, The Entrepreneurial School will train over 4000 teachers across 18 countries.
