The essential basis for any learning and teaching to take place is - students' and teachers' internal motivation.
Internal(intrinsic) motivation has enormous – but often unused – potential to energize our engagement in learning. This course will show you how to maximise this potential by explaining effective didactic methods - developed through research and used in our everyday work.
Description
This course is designed to equip teachers with the essential skills and principles that foster motivation development and contribute to the creation of collaborative learning community in the school environment.
Participants will explore the significance of resilience when faced with challenges and adversity, learning how to cultivate the ability to bounce back from failure, practice activities to foster growth mindset.They will develop strategies to promote resourcefulness, encouraging innovative thinking and adaptable approaches to problem-solving.Reflective teaching and learning methods will be demonstrated,encouraging teachers to become aware of their practise and stimulate their students to "own" their learning and take responsibility for their behaviour through reflection.The course will highlight the importance of reflection methods and reciprocity.
- Day 1: Welcome session, introductions, ice breakers and energisers; Introduction to the concept and significance of intrinsic motivation in school education, internal/external locus of control, Afternoon: Cultural activity - Walking Split tour, Reciprocity; intro, willing and able to learn alone and with others
- Day 2: Resilience and Growth Mindset – group development, recommended strategies and activities
- Day 3: Outdoor day: Reflectiveness and Resourcefulness:, learning creative activities to foster reflection upon experiential learning process; mastering our capacity to encourage students' engagement by using our outdoor resources; encouraging innovative thinking and adaptable approaches to problem-solving in the urban/rural outdoor environment
- Day 4: Outdoor day: Resilience Internal/external locus of control; competencies and skills development through problem-solving activities outdopr
- Day 5: Course evaluation session with individual and group reflections;Educators' skills - summary of acquired competences, discussion, feedback
ºìÌÒÊÓÆµing objectives
- Understanding human motivation and strategies to increase and sustain it - within our students and within ourselves.
- Cultivating resilience within themselves and their students (recognising successes, failures and setbacks as opportunities for learning and growth and developing ability to overcome challenges successfully).
- Develop resourcefulness among students, utilizing creative and critical thinking to solve problems and engage in meaningful learning experiences. (help children develop this ability by encouraging them to participate in activities requiring creativity and research skills.
- Gainining knowledge of reflective teaching practices and encouraging students to regularly reflect on their learning.
- ºìÌÒÊÓÆµing how to create a classroom environment based on reciprocity, building strong student-teacher relationships and promoting collaboration and empathy.
Methodology & assessment
Methodology of the course will take an interactive and participatory approach, providing a dynamic learning experience for participants. Each day will consist of a blend of instructional sessions, hands-on and group activities and practical exercises. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences and challenges, learning from one another in a supportive environment. Discussion activities, peer-to-peer feedback or journaling about the learning process will be carried out. Additionally, participants will be encouraged to form support networks to continue exchanging ideas and experiences.
