INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO TEACHING THROUGH LITERATURE 10 DAYS
This course is aimed at teachers and all those interested in use of interactive and interdisciplinary approach to teaching literature. Participants are expected to have at least B1 level of English proficiency.
Description
The course consists of 50 didactic hours and includes the following moduels:
- Introduction of participants, outline of the programme, warm ups and ice breakers
- Finding a way into the book with drama techniques
- Digital story-telling and narrative building
- Reflection on the book through art expression
- Framing and Distancing devices of Dorothy Heathcote
- Cultural exchange
- Teambuilding and networking activities with a city tour or a cultural trip
- Online tools for collaboration in literature oriented projects, e-Twinning
- Individual support
- Presentation of outcomes, discussion, evaluation and closing session

- Enhancing understanding of the potential other arts and sciences have in approach to literary work.
- Improving the participants’ pedagogical competences.
- Developing communication, collaboration, presentation, problem solving, negotiation, critical and creative thinking skills.
- Understanding of the potential and opportunities of drawing and art activities for analysis and reflection.
- Understanding of the way drama and theatre techniques can offer a way into the literary work.
- ºìÌÒÊÓƵing to use Dorothy Heathcote's framing and distancing devices to approach, analyze and reflect on literary works.
- ºìÌÒÊÓƵing drama and theatre techniques and methods to use in teaching literature.
- Providing and exercising creative ideas and practical resources for teaching literature through digital storytelling, drama methods and art workshops.
- Improving English fluency (official language of the course).
- Promoting intercultural awareness.
Methodology & assessment
Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
All the materials will be made available to the participants in digital form upon completion of the course.
Certification details
Certificate includes the topic, dates and location of the course. We can list the record of learning outcomes on the Europass Mobility Document on request of participants.
