
Green and Blue Schools
Introduces to teachers the mindset of sustainability in everyday teaching, provides material on green practices and guidelines on blue economy, realises the importance of involving local community in this big “sustainability transition”. The training will focus on ways to cope with environmental challenges by assessing how “Green” your school is and suggesting ways of making it even Greener.

Thematic units
- Unit 1 – Cultivating students’ “Green Skills”
- Unit 2 – Cultivating students’ “Blue Skills”
- Unit 3 – Networking with the local community in the framework of Participatory Design principles
- Unit 4 – Networking with peer organisations with the same needs, same challenges and SDGs
- Unit 5 – Setting up a students’ competition focused on environmental topics

Cultural activities (optional)
Includes:
A walking tour of Piraeus and welcome dinner,
Indicative menu: Cretan salad, zucchini fritters, sausage, cretan grilled cheese, cretan meat balls, pork slow roasted in the oven with sauce and herbs, served with mashed potatoes flavoured with mushroom truffle, traditional cretan pasta, dessert, wine / raki
PRICE per person: 25 euros (beer or other drinks are not covered, except those mentioned above)
A guided tour of Athens, visit to Archaeological sites,
It includes: The Acropolis hill, Parthenon, the historical area of Plaka & Monastiraki: 3 hours guided tour
COST: 150€ divided to the number of participants. No transport costs or entrance ticket to Acropolis Hill are included.
A common dinner in Athens,
Indicative menu: Feta wrapped with honey and sesame, greek salad, black eyed peas, octopus, calamari, cod croquettes, chicken strips, burger patties, orzotto with vegetables, wine and refreshments

The cost of local transportation and the entrance fees to sites and museums are not included.

Ƶing objectives
Upon completion of the training course, the participant is expected to:
- Develop Lesson Plans based on Green Practices and Blue Economy
- Promote Green and Blue practices
- Realise the benefits of adapting ecofriendly practices in order to cultivate relevant skills towards Climate Change
- Exploit relevant digital skills so as to deal with Sustainability transition
- Cultivate soft skills (critical & innovative thinking, collaborating, problem solving) while developing new methodologies and materials
- Motivate participants to actively engage the local community, to integrate elements of participatory design in order to co-create and build synergies in order to bring awareness on environmental issues
- Design competitions for students in order to make them Environmental ambassadors, to be part of the decision-making process and learn more on the SDGs.
- Ƶ how to evaluate and assess the Green levels of their school and find ways of getting Greener.
Target groups
Teachers in primary and secondary schools, educators that wish to build eco-consciousness among students and young people in general.
Methodology & assessment
The learning techniques that will be used are:
- Short presentations of the topics
- Use of active learning methods with individual and group activities
- Work on case studies
- Group discussions
- Individual and group reflection
Certification details
The cost includes the learning material and the certificates: Certificate of completion, Europass Certificate Supplement, Europass Mobility.
The cost can be funded by Erasmus+ programme KA1 mobility of staff.
