Description

Creative Photography and Visual Expression in Education equips educators with the skills and strategies to use photography as a means of creative expression and learning in the classroom. This course explores how photography can be used to teach a variety of subjects, including art, history, literature, and social sciences, by engaging students in visual storytelling and creative projects. Participants will learn how to encourage students to think critically about images, use photography as a form of self-expression, and design lessons that integrate visual literacy into everyday learning. Emphasizing hands-on photography techniques in owr own studio, the course will also explore digital tools and photo-editing apps to enhance students' creative work. By the end of the course, educators will be able to integrate photography and visual expression into their teaching practice, fostering an inclusive, creative, and visually engaging learning environment.

Methodology & assessment

The course adopts a hands-on, project-based learning methodology, with participants engaging in interactive workshops, photography assignments, and group discussions. Through these activities, educators will explore how to integrate photography into their teaching practice and encourage students to express their learning visually. Participants will work both individually and in teams to create and share their photography projects, exploring different themes and techniques.

Assessment will be formative, focusing on creativity, engagement, and practical application. Participants will be assessed based on their involvement in activities, the quality of their photography projects, and their ability to integrate visual expression into their teaching practice. Ongoing feedback will be provided by peers and trainers throughout the course, with a final project where participants will design a photography-based lesson plan or activity to implement in their own classrooms.

Materials, digital tools & other learning resources

Participants will have access to a range of materials, including photography guides, project templates, and digital resources for photo-editing and visual storytelling. Digital tools such as photo-editing apps, collaborative platforms, and online galleries will be used to enhance students' creative work.
