Creative gardening and green skills in education
Green skills are important segment in every type of education: learning how to stay more sustainable and upscale practical green skills in educational environment. Starting from very simple gardening in flower pots to more complex flower beds. The course is interdisciplinary and connects art and science in a unique way. Ƶ about modern green skills implementation through 3 educational models.

Day 1 – Introduction to the course and setting goals
Presentations of the participants’ schools;
Goal setting for the week;
Zagreb sightseeing – hop on-hop off.
Day 2 – Decoupage gardening in the classroom
Creative gardening models
Model 1: Decopuage gardening model;
Creating positive school setting through art;
Decopuage gardening workshop.
Day 3 – Gardening pallets
Model 2: Hanging wall garden
Basic design of hanging wall garden;
Gardening pallets workshop.
Day 4 – Samobor Greenville gardening
Model 3: Raised Bed Gardening
Travel to Samobor to Greenville complex;
Basic composting method and plant choice for the raised bed garden;
Organic garden workshop and flower beds;
Enhancing and promoting green skills.
Day 5 – Lesson planning and course closure
Creating lesson plans – creative gardening at school;
Sharing lesson plans;
Feedback and certificates;
Visit to the botanical garden in Zagreb.
Ƶing objectives
The participants will:
- gain the understanding of different ways of school gardening;
- learn gardening methods and models adaptable to different school settings;
- implement decopuage art in gardening;
- acquire knowledge about green skills in education;
- design creative gardening lessons for sustainable education;
- develop critical thinking in smart gardening;
- establish cultural cooperation with European colleagues.
Methodology & assessment
Materials, digital tools & other learning resources
All materials will be provided in the course: tools for gardening, notepads and refreshments. We will use digital tools in some segments, so mobile phones will be sufficient.
Certification details
Each participant will get a certificate of attendance and if needed a Europass Mobility Certificate.

Course package content:
The course covers the teaching cost, Hop on - hop off Zagreb bus tour, travel to Greenville in Samobor, ticket to the Botanical garden and refreshements during the breaks. The course doesn't provide accommodation and meals.

Cancellation & changes:
Free cancellation policy is 30 days before the course starts, if cancelled closer to the start date, 50% refund is offered. Cancellations within 14 days or no-shows result in no refund. Change of the participant or session date change is possible with no cost, depending on availability.
