Sound Postcards from Europe

This project invites students from different European countries to become radio reporters of their own culture. In small groups, they will create short audio capsules — “sound postcards” — lasting between 45 seconds and 1 minute. Each postcard will highlight a specific aspect of their country or region: a famous place, a local tradition, a recipe, a song, or simply a moment of everyday life. The postcards will combine students’ voices with authentic background sounds (market noise, street sounds, nature, music) in order to bring listeners on a real audio journey. Once created, the postcards will be uploaded to the TwinSpace, where partner schools can listen, share impressions, and comment in English. At the end of the project, all productions will be gathered in a joint final product: an interactive European map of sound postcards, where each country is represented by one or several audio capsules. This will allow students and their communities to “travel across Europe with their ears” and discover its diversity through sound. The project will develop language skills (oral expression in English/French or bilingual with mother tongue), media literacy (writing scripts, recording, editing), and cultural awareness, while fostering creativity, cooperation, and European citizenship.
