SLOWING DOWN FAST FASHION

Fast fashion, a highly profitable and exploitative business model, has a huge human and environmental impact. Garment workers and consumers are in danger. Harmful chemicals found in apparel, heavy metals and toxicants put humans and ecosystems in jeopardy. Workers' rights are non-existent. With this project the students will reach a better understanding of the issue of fast fashion and its impact on the environment, garment workers and consumers. What's more, through communication, collaboration, sharing ideas and opinions and as members of the community they will be asked to play their part and contribute to controlling the "monster" in our closets. The collaborative process throughout the project will require the students to work in teams and present, represent, remake, reuse, repair, recreate, recycle, realize, reconsider, reflect, respect, refuse to compromise... and reduce their own impact.
