Robotics for everyone: from virtual to real robots to face climate change

Industry 4.0, which is called the last stage of the industrial revolution, and robotics is one of the pillars. However, the study of robotics cannot be a goal by itself, but a means to solve urgent problems nowadays. Today the phenomenon of climate change is increasingly on the agenda of the whole world, causing disasters as hurricanes, tornadoes, forest fires, blizzards, floods; robots can be beneficial in such dangerous situations. This project aims to make students aware of these threats and what they can really do through robotics, and to design and develop together, in a European context, effective solutions that can be tested in realistic environments. Students will develop solutions in a virtual, shared environment and will move to deploy the code on real hardware, printing 3D components and assembling parts to make robots live. They will share their experience with their peers and will compare results with other teams, to achieve our vision of competition and cooperation.
