Junior Model United Nations Ka210 Erasmus Plus Project 2024-2025

The Junior Model United Nations (JMUN) project is a dynamic Erasmus+ initiative designed to inspire young students to become informed, active, and responsible global citizens. By simulating the structure and function of the United Nations, JMUN empowers students aged 11 to 15 to explore complex international issues, develop critical skills, and collaborate across borders in pursuit of real-world solutions. At the heart of JMUN is the belief that today’s youth have a vital role to play in addressing the global challenges of tomorrow. Through carefully structured activities, students are introduced to the mechanisms of international diplomacy and learn to express their views with confidence, clarity, and respect for diverse perspectives. They take on the roles of country delegates, engage in debates, draft resolutions, and work together in mock UN committees to tackle pressing issues such as climate change, sustainability, and social justice. The goals of the project are both educational and transformative. JMUN seeks to: Deepen students’ understanding of global topics, including climate change and international cooperation. Cultivate skills in leadership, negotiation, research, public speaking, and teamwork. Promote democratic participation, empathy, and cross-cultural dialogue. Connect global learning with local impact through student-led environmental and community projects. Recognize students' achievements with official certificates that acknowledge their growth and participation. Over the course of the project, participants engage in a variety of enriching activities. These include preparation through classroom lessons and research, virtual collaboration with peers from partner schools, and participation in international mobility events. A highlight of the project is the organization of a full JMUN simulation conference, where students put their newly acquired skills into practice in a formal debate setting. Equally important are the collaborative relationships built among the partner schools and organizations from Greece, Romania, Ireland, and Türkiye. Each partner contributes unique strengths—ranging from environmental education and creative arts to youth engagement and innovative pedagogy—ensuring a rich, well-rounded experience for everyone involved. The outcomes of JMUN extend well beyond the final conference. Students return to their schools and communities equipped not only with knowledge but also with the motivation to take initiative and lead positive change. From launching recycling campaigns to presenting environmental proposals, the impact is tangible, immediate, and empowering. In an increasingly interconnected world, JMUN offers a model of how education can foster global citizenship, nurture leadership potential, and give young people a meaningful voice in shaping the future.
