I Grow with Stories and Measures

The founders of our project are from Türkiye and Romania. The project includes the students between ages of 4 and 8. Our project will begin in February and expire on the 15th of May. Project activities will be determined by taking the opinions of the project members when they are completed. The project is designed as a game. Game; It is a train journey with 6 stations consisting of special names, where children get on the wagon and learn by exploring the stations. Station 1: "Time" station. It is a station where children read Eric CARLE's book called "The Hungry Caterpillar" by which students can search and discover the concepts of time (before-after, days, transformation, order of formation) .The book is centered on these concepts of time. Research and discoveries are made about the time. Station 2 is the "Entertainment" station; Children play games by sorting and arranging story cards using visuals taken from the story, paying attention to the order of story events and the stages of formation of the caterpillar. 3rd Station: "Spın, spın and learn" station: In this station, children are given a wheel with pictures of non-standard and standard measurement units (hand span, finger, fathom, foot, step, lountıng stick, rope, meter). Children will measure and bring an object that they measured using the wheel rotation and the corresponding measurement unit, with the teacher involved. Throughout the process, the difference and between standard and non-standard units will be discovered. The topic of the length is studied. Station 4: "Fun" station: shadow matching cards are distributed to children and they have enjoyable playing time. Station 5: "Same but different" station: in this station, children feel the weight of various objects in the classroom with their hands and bodies. A heavy liquid is injected into one of the two ping-pong balls prepared by the teacher, and guesses are made to show that the weight is related to the material structure rather than visuality. and ping pong balls are weighed, which is the same as an equal-arm scale but one with heavy liquid injection. weight is worked on. Station 6: "I know" station: At the station, children are asked to draw a painting that can create a story fiction containing the measurements and time concepts they learned in the other station (done on a common giant poster). It is a station where they reinforce what they have learned and put it into product. After the project is completed, a painting exhibition will be created from the paintings sent by all partners and the project will end.
