Funny Literacy

Early literacy is generally expressed as all of the knowledge, skills and attitudes expected to be acquired in the period before starting formal literacy teaching. In this sense, a large part of the contributions of pre-school education to children's readiness for primary school consists of early literacy skills. It is seen that early literacy skills in the preschool period have a great impact on the speed of children's learning to read and write, their reading success and reading comprehension skills, and therefore their adaptation to primary school and their self-confidence are also greatly affected. As in all areas of development, many skills and awareness for language development and early literacy actually start in the family. In the pre-school period, it continues in a planned and systematic way. However, some wrong attitudes, prejudices, well-intentioned but wrong methods arising from not knowing the developmental characteristics of the child may cause permanent or difficult to correct erroneous learning instead of improving early literacy skills, and this situation also affects primary school education. Generally, the concept of early literacy can be misunderstood by families and sometimes by preschool teachers, and it can be perceived as learning or teaching reading and writing at an early age, and wrong practices can lead to bad results.
