Drops of the Waterfall

Students aged 14–17 will explore the poem "Waterfall" by Croatian writer Dobriša Cesarić. The poem reflects on the significance of each individual’s contribution to humanity and the creation of something profound and beautiful. It encourages meaningful connections and inclusivity while introducing the rainbow motif as a timeless symbol of hope, peace, and the promise of a better tomorrow. The rainbow in the poem also embodies pride, freedom, and unity—long before it became a universal emblem of inclusion. Additionally, the poem offers a philosophical reflection on life, the fleeting nature of time, and the enduring value of human effort and aspirations. As part of the project, each school will invite students to translate the poem into their native language. They will then record voiceovers for a collaborative video featuring stunning footage of waterfalls near Požega, the birthplace of Dobriša Cesarić. This location is planned as a highlight for some partner schools during the Erasmus mobility. To deepen engagement, students will introduce themselves on a shared Padlet and capture their impressions of the poem. For schools unable to join the mobility in person, students will participate by designing posters inspired by the poem. These creative illustrations will also find a place in the project’s final masterpiece. Since some activities will involve outdoor experiences, fieldwork, and reflections on protecting natural resources, we are also adding an ecological dimension to our project. The project will emphasize the vital role nature plays in fostering mental health and well-being, inspiring students to value and nurture their connection to the natural world.
