Beyond Borders: A Culinary Journey Through History, Democracy and Sustainability

This collaborative project brings together Norwegian and German students to create a socio-cultural cookbook that goes beyond recipes, delving into the history, cultural significance, and environmental impact of traditional dishes from both countries. By analysing these culinary traditions, students will explore pressing contemporary issues such as sustainability, democratic decision-making, and the global implications of food production and consumption. The project fosters intercultural dialogue and critical thinking, enabling students to connect food culture with broader societal challenges. Through research, collaboration, and creative expression, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the socio-political and environmental dimensions of their culinary heritage, while contributing to a unique educational resource that bridges culture and sustainability.
