Romania, as many other European countries, faces great challenges in dealing with poverty, employment searching migration, school drop out, social and national minorities. When parents leave, children are often left behind in the care of grandparents or other relatives, losing out on the most important education agent, many of them being exposed to social vices at an early age because there is no parental control. Another target group would be that of students whose family income is extremely low or only a small local council social allowance. Roma students are very well integrated in our community, but they are often socially assisted and from broken up families. Through this project we aim at raising these students’ self-esteem and school performance by involving them in fun activities. We intend to enhance learning motivation through art, languages, sports and local environment for students belonging to the vulnerable groups previously mentioned.
