Agriculture 4.0

The world has been lately embodied in the new industrial revolution, so-called the 4th industrial revolution (Industry 4.0). We have been going through the development of IoT, automation, digitization and robotic automation that penetrate all sectors including agriculture. Now we call it as Agriculture 4.0. It doesn’t only mean an increase of efficiency but it also generates new demands on machines operating. Changes which Agriculture 4.0 bring have a substantial influence on the required qualification. VET students must be prepared for working in agriculture that will be based on new technologies, digitization and automation. The main orientation of future development is “precise agriculture” connected with technical progress in the area of navigation systems, electronics and IT. It follows that the new mechanization is produced and used. As the consequence of progressive automation and digitization, some substantial changes will take place on the labour market and will also place new demands on digitization and knowledge and skills of a graduate. It’s needed to implement new elements of vocational preparation regarding new needs of the labour market. It’s important to strengthen the cooperation among schools and the labour market by organising projects, workshops and activities. This project will enable the students to get an overview focused on specific technologies and results of smart farming. It will bring them a new view on implementation of new technologies and conditions in agricultural sector. The participants of the project will visit some local firms, join online trainings and do some activities on their schools. The project will show the students both the implementation of new technologies in the agricultural sector and the level of agricultural education and its quality in the European framework. The participating students will be future farmers of the EU and they will have to know different conditions in agricultural sector in different parts of the EU to understand the necessity of production division throughout Europe.
