The beginnings of the school in Vladesti are lost in the mists of time, the first information about its existence being in 1857-1858 when the first school in the locality was established.
Starting with 01.09.2012, the official name is “Grigore Mihăescu “ Secondary School, in honor of the remarkable Vladesti personality of the past who brought many contributions to the development of rural education.
The school has as structure the Kindergarten Vladesti. Secondary School Vladesti is situated 5 kilometers far from Rm. Valcea's city centre, situated in a rural area surrounded by Capela and Inatesti hills. The school is 10 kilometers far from the tourist resort Baile Olanesti.
At the Secondary School Vladesti are studying 194 students who are split as it follows: - 58 students at kindergarten (with the age between 3 and 6 years old). - 84 students at primary school (with the ages between 7 and 11 years old). - 52 students at secondary school (with the ages between 12 and 15 years old). There are 18 teachears who work at the school. The Headmaster of School is Mr. Ciuca Alexandru Gabriel.
