Who are we?
A four-year elementary school in Žitkovac didn’t exist until 1911. Pupils attended school in Prćilovica.
The amount of 8000 dinars was raised on the initiative and with the financial help of priest Laza Martinović and Stanko Petrović, a parliament member, as well as with the help of donation from residents of Žitkovac. The money was used to build a school and a flat for teachers. Thanks to an enormous commitment of Dragoljub Milosavljević and Sava Milićević, the supervisors on the construction, the building was finished as quickly as possible.
The school in Žitkovac was opened on the 1st September 1911.
