My name is Despina and I am a passionate educator and researcher. I have been specialized in Cognitive Science and Special Education through my studies and practical experience in different educational settings. I have worked for many years with children with autism and their families. So social cognition and empathy have always been in my scope of research interest. In the class I love to cultivate the inquiry learning in children. I do so, by letting us to design and conduct experiments. Sometimes we do so through authentic play, others through narratives and other times as real scientist do by working in our lab learning center. Children have the innate tendency to explore and they feel very happy when they follow this flow. It is in us, to become part of this innate flow of them and learn with them. As partners in the same flow, we co-construct knowledge. And this co-construction of knowledge is that makes us at the very end genuine scientists.
