Jump@school – Testing a model to counter early school leaving

To prevent early school leaving (ESL), the Jump@school project developed and tested an innovative intervention model and assessed its impact on the attitude of vulnerable students towards school. It involved a consortium of ten partners from six countries, four schools and 480 students aged 14 to 17 years old.

The project’s final objective was to offer and provide insights, recommendations and suggestions for the definition of vocational training and education policies capable of preventing and countering ESL, also in the light of the new challenges posed by the current socio-economic scenario in Europe (economic crisis, high youth unemployment rates, migration issues).

Jumpatschool developed a with the aim to reduce ESL, based on the mix of individual and group activities, the relationship with the territory and a case management approach.

Activities included:

  1. individual counselling sessions between participants and JumpOperators
  2. the development of Individual Development Plan (IDP)
  3. group activities, i.e. a kick-off meeting to celebrate the beginning of the journey, to break the ice, and workshops to develop creativity, self-esteem, confidence and communication.
