The European Commission works with EU countries to strengthen 'key competences' – knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will help learners find personal fulfilment and, later in life, find work and take part in society.

Over 500 of the most innovative teachers and education experts from across Europe met in Rome, from 27 to 29 November, for the 10th annual eTwinning Conference. The topic of this year’s event was 'Opening Education' and how eTwinning can promote creativity and innovative practices in both teaching and learning.

On 11 December 2014 the European Commission and the Italian presidency of the European Union will organise a high-level conference, Education in the Digital Era, in Brussels. The conference will address the opportunities and challenges of adapting education to a fast-changing, digital society and economy.

On 11 November 2014, ceremonies across Europe and around the world have commemorated the anniversary of the end of World War One. Remembering the efforts and sacrifices of previous generations can help to understand Europe's history and also its future.

Erasmus+ is the EU programme for Education, Training, Youth, and Sport for 2014-2020. A new call for 2015 has been launched with many opportunities for schools to seek funding for their activities.
