Description

This webinar aims to share how educators can promote democracy and the rule of law through collaborative European school projects. Rosa Maria will share her expertise on embedding democratic values in education using a whole-school approach, fostering student voice, and encouraging participatory decision-making. Drawing on her experience as an Erasmus+ and eTwinning ambassador, she will provide practical methods for promoting inclusion, active citizenship, and European identity through school partnerships. Participants will leave with strategies and tools to bring these core values to life in their classrooms.

About the speakers

Rosa Maria Giacalone

Rosa Maria Giacalone is an experienced Spanish teacher at Liceo Statale Pascasino in Marsala, Sicily, with a strong background in international education, digital innovation, and European project design. With a degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures and a Master’s in School Leadership and Educational Management from the University of Palermo, she has been active in international education since 2005, starting with Comenius and continuing as a project designer and coordinator in Erasmus+ since 2015. As an Erasmus+ and eTwinning School Ambassador for Sicily, appointed in Florence in 2022, she supports schools in implementing competence-based education, digital transition, and cross-border collaboration. Recognized by Italy’s national agency Indire, she organises and leads seminars, info days, training courses, and student exchanges across the region. Rosa Maria is passionate about inclusive education, teacher development, and promoting European values through meaningful school partnerships.
