This innovative project merges eTwinning with an online Model United Nations (MUN) simulation, focusing on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Designed for students aged 14-18, the project will enable participants to explore and engage with global sustainability challenges, fostering an understanding of how diplomacy and international cooperation can address pressing issues such as poverty, climate change, inequality, and education. Throughout the project, students will collaborate across borders via eTwinning’s digital platform, working together to research and analyze specific SDGs. Each student will be assigned a country to represent, tasked with researching their nation’s stance on various SDGs and formulating strategies to meet these global objectives. The project will encourage deep engagement with topics such as sustainable cities, affordable clean energy, gender equality, and the preservation of life on land and sea. By integrating eTwinning’s collaborative tools, participants will develop essential skills in digital literacy, cross-cultural communication, and global problem-solving. The project will emphasize the importance of effective communication and negotiation as students work in diverse teams to draft resolutions, debate complex issues, and build consensus in the final online MUN simulation. The culmination of the project will be a fully simulated MUN conference, where students will role-play as delegates in the UN’s various committees, discussing and advocating for sustainable solutions to the SDGs. Students will practice diplomacy, public speaking, and critical thinking, while also enhancing their ability to collaborate and resolve conflicts through dialogue. By the end of the project, participants will not only have a stronger understanding of the SDGs and international diplomacy but also gain practical experience in leadership, advocacy, and consensus-building. This project empowers young people to become proactive global citizens, capable of contributing to the achievement of a more sustainable, equitable, and peaceful world.
