"The word endemic, which comes from the Greek root "endemos", means something specific to a region. Endemic plants, on the other hand, are plants that can only live in a certain region due to the ecological conditions of the region they are in, and are unlikely to live anywhere else in the world. Endemic plant species are generally not widely known outside the geography they live in. However, many people in the geography they live in are not aware that these plants are endemic to the region and therefore do not show the necessary sensitivity to these species. The fact that endemic species (plants, animals, etc.) live in a narrow geographical area causes these species to disappear when the necessary sensitivity is not shown. With our project called "On the Trail of Endemic Plants", we aim to examine the endemic plant species living in our regions with the students we consider as the adults of the future, to announce our research results to our environment with the project products we will make and to ignite the first spark for the social awareness that needs to be created on this subject. In addition, our students will be able to get to know the endemic plant species not only in their own environment but also in the environment of the project partners during the project process." Yunanca "endemos" kökünden gelen endemik kelimesi bir yöreye özgü olan anlamı taşımaktadır. Endemik bitkiler ise bulunduğu bölgenin ekolojik şartları yüzünden yalnızca belirli bölgede yaşayabilen, dünyanın başka yerinde yaşama ihtimali olmayan, yöreye özgü bitki türü demektir. Endemik bitki türleri genellikle yaşadığı coğrafya dışında çok fazla bilinmeme özelliği taşır. Ancak yaşadığı coğrafyada da birçok insan bu bitkilerin yöreye özgü (endemik) olduğunun bilincinde olmamakta ve bu nedenle bu türlere gereken hassasiyeti göstermemektedir. Endemik türlerin (bitki, hayvan vb.) dar bir coğrafi alanda yaşamaları gerekli hassasiyet gösterilmediğinde bu türlerin yok olmasına sebep olmaktadır. "Endemik Bitkilerin İzinde" adlı projemiz ile geleceğin büyükleri olarak kabul ettiğimiz öğrencilerle bölgelerimizde yaşayan endemik bitki türlerini inceleyip araştırma sonuçlarımızı yapacağımız proje ürünleri ile çevremizde duyurmayı ve bu konuda oluşması gereken toplumsal farkındalık için ilk kıvılcımı yakmayı amaçlamaktadır. Ayrıca öğrencilerimizin sadece kendi çevreleri değil proje ortaklarının çevrelerinde yer alan endemik bitki türlerini tanıması da proje sürecinde sağlanacaktır.
