EIPSI – Evidence-informed practices for school inclusion

The EIPSI project (Erasmus+ 2020–2023) wanted to address challenges faced by schools with diverse pupil populations that include high numbers of pupils with immigrant or socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds and children with special needs.
EIPSI followed a holistic and interdisciplinary approach, engaging experts from five countries and different sectors: higher education, public administration and professional associations. The project centred on three pillars: building teacher capacity, fostering school development andstrengthening stakeholder networks to raise awareness about inclusive practices.
The project’s key outputs delivered practical tools and resources, including:
- A for diverse classrooms and a digital prototype to engage teachers with validated, quality evidence.
- on implementing evidence-informed practices.
- for educators and policymakers to tackle school diversity.
- including intervention guidelines, materials and self-assessment tools.
- on school inclusion and equity.
Most outputs are available in English, Dutch, Spanish, Romanian, Slovenian and Catalan.
Methodologically, EIPSI prioritised collaboration and co-design, bridging the gap between research and practice. Mixed teams of researchers, teachers, inspectors and counsellors led the initiatives, with pilot programmes implemented in 10 high-complexity schools in each partner country.
"What made EIPSI truly special was its commitment to co-creation, ensuring that all developed resources were designed collectively to support teachers, schools, and educational systems. This approach not only enhanced educational practices at multiple levels but also contributed to building a more just and equitable educational context."
Georgeta Ion, Project leader
