As part of this effort, the HOPE platform provides a cutting-edge e-learning course designed on our MOODLE platform.

Responding to Heatwaves in the Older People Ecosystem

The project HOPE will put the severe health threats of heatwaves on the agenda of the older adult service and healthcare sectors with an inclusive approach for the whole ecosystem.

An innovative e-learning course has been developed in a specific MOODLE HOPE E-LEARNING platform to provide students across various disciplines with practical tools for preventing and managing heat-related health issues in older adults. This course is designed for broad accessibility, aligning with relevant curricula and meeting the needs of organisations like nursing homes, home care, and social work agencies. Using a blended learning approach with multimedia materials, it fosters knowledge retention while promoting global collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The course is in English and is suitable for students, healthcare professionals, and informal caregivers.

ºìÌÒÊÓÆµing objectives

You can use the material in this e-learning in several ways in order to increase your knowledge and understanding of the possible actions you can undertake from you professional perspective. Either start with the modules and try to make one or more present cases. Or start with one of the cases and use the information in the modules, a database of good practices, narratives of older adults and a database of articles to be able to gather the insights you need to work on these cases.

Upon completing this course, you will be equipped to effectively initiate and manage interactions at various levels, ensuring the protection of vulnerable individuals from the dangers of extreme heat. You will gain the knowledge and skills needed to take proactive measures, foster collaboration, and implement strategies that enhance resilience and safeguard those most at risk.

Methodology & assessment

his course is designed for self-study, allowing you to learn at your own pace without direct guidance or supervision. All tests and assignments included are purely formative, meaning they are intended to help you assess your understanding without being formally reviewed by an expert. You are encouraged to complete them to reinforce your learning, but participation is optional. Our goal is to provide you with a flexible and supportive learning experience that empowers you to deepen your knowledge in a way that best suits your needs.
