Sustainability as a kye element of modern education, equips students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to address global challenges. This course is designed for educators and teachers who want to embed sustainability competencies into their curriculum. Description
Module 1: Foundations of sustainability
Fundamental concepts of environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Key frameworks: UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development and European GreenComp model
Module 2: Curriculum design
Strategies for integrating sustainability through interdisciplinary approaches. Examine case studies and develop lesson plans and cross-curricular projects that promote sustainability
Module 3: Innovative teaching methodologies
Project-based learning, create impact plan, use digital tools to foster critical thinking and problem-solving
Module 4: Assess sustainability competencies
Explore qualitative and quantitative assessment techniques, rubrics, self-assessment methods, and performance-based evaluation
Module 5: Implement and scale up
Develop action plans to embed sustainability education within institutions and foster collaboration with stakeholders

On successful completion of this course, the participants will be able to:

Methodology & assessment
This course employs a blended learning approach, combining theoretical foundations with practical applications. Participants will engage in:
• Interactive lectures and facilitated discussions
• Case studies and real-world examples analysis
• Project-based learning (PBL) to develop lesson plans
• Collaborative activities to design an impact plan
• Use digital tools to enhance sustainability education and increase engagement
• Reflective practice for self-assessment and critical thinking, supported by constructive feedback
Assessment
The assessment strategy combines formative and summative approaches. Participants will be evaluated through:
• Development of lesson plans integrating sustainability competencies
• Analysis and evaluation of real-world sustainability initiatives and their impact on education
• Peer feedback and reflective practice
• Final project comprising a sustainability-focused learning activity and a corresponding assessment framework

Participants will have access to a range of resources:
•&Բ;&Բ;&Բ; Course handouts, reading materials, and sustainability framework documents (acces to Google Drive)
•&Բ;&Բ;&Բ; Digital collaboration platforms (Padlet) for group work and project development
•&Բ;&Բ;&Բ; Interactive tools for lesson planning and project-based learning (Canva and Trello)
•&Բ;&Բ;&Բ; to support the whole-school approach to sustainability integration
Certification details
Participants who successfully complete the course and the evaluation process will receive an Attendance Certificate issued by the hosting organization, detailing the course title, program, and schedule.
Additionally, upon request from the sending organization, a Europass Mobility Certificate can be provided.
