
DEALING WITH CONFLICTS AND DISCRIMINATION WITH THE THEATRE OF THE OPPRESSED TECHNIQUES 5 DAYS
This course is aimed at teachers and school staff from pre-school level to primary, secondary, vocational, adult and special needs education, staff of non-government organizations, government and policy makers and company staff as well as students and all those who are interested in use of drama and theatre methods to address conflicts and discrimination in their communities.
Description
The course consists of 25 didactic hours and includes the following modules:
- Introduction of participants, outline of the programme, warm ups and ice breakers
- Introduction to the Theatre of the Oppressed
- Creating a safe space for laboratory practice and developing the group dynamics
- Theatre games and exercises to get in touch with the body and mind and prepare for deconstruction of situations for analytical study
- Theatre of the Oppressed techniques of still images and body sculpturing for representing and experimenting with situations of conflict and discrimination
- Presentation of outcomes, discussion, evaluation and closing session
- Teambuilding and networking activities
- City tour or a cultural trip

- Familiarizing with the Theatre of The Oppressed manifesto and techniques.
- Understanding of discrimination and conflict in diversity of their forms.
- Facilitating understanding of the language of theatre and ability to use its basic elements, the sound, the image and the movement to convey meaning and engage in dialogue.
- Improving understanding of sensations, feelings and thoughts through individual and collective perceptions.
- Facilitating juxtaposition of individual perceptions to form a deeper collective perception.
- Acquisition of games, exercises and techniques for de-mechanizing sensations, feelings, thoughts and perceptions.
- ºìÌÒÊÓÆµing versatile techniques and exercises from the arsenal of The Theatre of The Oppressed for externalizing internalized conflicts, addressing apathy and passivity and enhancing participation.
- Facilitating ability to create and facilitate a Forum Theatre performance.

All the materials will be made available to the participants in digital form upon completion of the course.
Certification details
Certificate includes the topic, dates and location of the course. We can list the record of learning outcomes on the Europass Mobility Document on request of participants.

Course package content:
The course fee includes tution and materials for the course. Accommodation, meals and transportation are not included and participants are expected to organize and cover for these expences by themselves. We do not charge anything extra apart from the 400 EUR course fee.
