Tales of Natural Disasters

The program concerns the training of Kindergarten children in dealing with natural disasters, earthquakes, volcanoes, fires and floods. Specifically, it aims to get to know them through tails, experiments and ICT, aiming to adopt a new profile of an active citizen who knows how to deal with natural disasters. Tails are not just fairy tales but have a core of true events, which is also the main cause, around which, with the passage of time, a mythical shell was added, such as symbolism, superstitions, misconceptions. Myths about earthquakes and volcanic eruptions were created in almost all cultures reflecting people's perceptions of these natural phenomena that even today cause fear, awe and insecurity. Through the program, learning skills (4Cs) are mainly promoted, while at the same time life skills and mental skills are activated. The achievement is carried out through a series of experiments on natural phenomena, combined with the use and exploitation of digital tools. At the same time, the 13th (climate action) of the 17 sustainable development goals is promoted through the program. Natural disasters affect every country on every continent. They disrupt national economies and affect lives while having significant impacts on people, communities and countries of today but even more so tomorrow. It is a global phenomenon that knows no borders. Education can and should contribute a lot in this direction.
