Little citizens through philisophy

The project “Little Citizens through Philosophy” aims to develop social life skills (communication, sharing, empathy, cooperation, conflict resolution, respect for diversity, self-control, assertiveness, patience, etc.) to foster and promote active citizenship among our young pupils. With a holistic vision, based on the uniqueness of each individual, the promotion of individual well-being and the development of sociality, empathy, and resilience, together with cognitive skills, will lead our pupils to raise awareness and practice real citizenship in the classroom. Our pupils ask many questions every day, and we believe that philosophy can help answer these questions and encourage critical thinking in children. Together, we want to know and discover. Consequently, we guide our pupils to search for answers to their questions by forming hypotheses and finding original solutions. This process will help them understand cause-effect relationships, which are fundamental for appropriate behavior in society and for becoming good citizens! Our starting point is the five Ruiz agreements: Be impeccable with your words Don’t take anything personally Don’t make assumptions Always do the best you can Be skeptical, but learn to listen We will present these topics through some Aesop and Phaedrus fables: The Ant and the Grasshopper, The Fox and the Grapes, The Lion and the Mouse, The Tortoise and the Hare. We will develop the project through the storytelling method. Each school partner will choose a story, and at the end of the project, an ebook will be created with all the stories developed.
