Challenging stereotypes through cultural treasures

We want to challenge our students' knowledge of other European countries. Stereotypes subconsciously exist and our goal is to challenge these stereotypical beliefs. For this reason, we aim that local students critically think about what they know about Denmark/Belgium/Austria and share their believes. In a next step, local students present their culture and are confronted with the "stereotypes" and clarify whether these internal beliefs are actually true or not. We want students to go into depth and also discover what identity/ies they assosciate with. In addition, we want our students to notice differences, e.g. between school systems, food culture, but also similarities, e.g. regarding their free time activities/social media use... Also, the personal contact between students is a priority for us. We are thinking about students' sending/designing their own postcards displaying their favourite place in their home country, sending them to the foreign students, writing traditional recipes in their mother tongue and cooking the recipes...
