Both of us, English teachers in Italy and in France, are willing to help our students become European citizens and identifying as such. As adults, we are both confident that having an experience abroad is the best way to become more open-minded despite cultural differences. Our final project would be to become long-lasting partners so that our pupils can share their cultural common points and differences. Our schools want to explore different types of partnerships and so far we've agreed on starting simple : making our students discover another European country. How does life work there ? How does school work ? Why are we different but also why are we in fact very similar ? This project would also involve the Latin background of both France and Italy thanks to the help of one teacher teaching Latin in France. Later on, we'd like to involve more colleagues from both of our schools to work on sustainable development through gardening. This twinspace and this project would be the starting point for any ways of breaching beyond our borders and engage our pupils in feeling more European that just Italian or French.
